Savory Green Beans
1 lb green beans, washed and trimmed (about 3 cups)
1T grapeseed oil
1T butter
1 clove garlic cut in half
1T finely chopped onion
1t dry basil
1 t sea salt
1/8t pepper
1t sugar, stevia or organic sucanat
1/4c boiling water

Heat oil and butter in skillet, saute garlic and onoin until soft.  Remove garlic from skillet.  Add green beans, salt, pepper, salt, basil sugar ans boiling water.  Cover and cook over medium until tender, about 20 minutes, add a little extra water in necessary.

Italian Dressing

Toss broccoli in dressing and allow to sit for several hours.  Serve on it's own or in a salad.  Great crunchy, savory snack to keep prepared in fridge.

I suggest homemade dressing as most commercial dressings contain HFCS, MSG or another no-no.

Homemade italian dressing recipe:

  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, lightly crushed and quartered
  • 1 teaspoon fresh oregano leaves (from 3 or 4 small sprigs or 1 or 2 large sprigs)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (from 3 or 4 small sprigs or 1 or 2 large sprigs)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley leaves (from 3 or 4 small sprigs or 1 or 2 large sprigs)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
