My Bio
After years of struggling with thyroid disease, weight gain, depression, terrible lethargy, achy joints and poor sleep I finally got a diagnosis: Lupus, at least the early stages of it, the disease would take another 6-12 months to become "full blown", the doctor said. I should start reading, educate myself, prepare myself and my family for the day when I could no longer take care of them and would need, instead, to be taken care of. There was no avoiding it, she said, this was my future. Well, that didn't work for me. I had three young kids and a husband who works long, hard hours. I needed to be healthy so I can take care of my family. So I got on the internet and started looking for better answers.
The first thing I learned was how confusing and conflicting the information I was coming across could be. The more I read, the more I realized how much I needed to learn in order to make sense of what I was reading. So I began researching a way to educate myself and came across a website for Trinity College of Natural Health. I could take the classes from home, at my own pace but from an nationally recognized and accredited college. I began a course of study to receive my Certified Nutritional Consultant degree which I completed and then began to pursue my Doctor of Naturopathy. I have completed 29 courses and the required dissertation for review. Achieving the title of "Doctor" has not only been an accomplishment of which I am very proud, but has given me the confidence to reach out to help others.
Around the same time as I started on my course of study, I met Dr. Inge Wetzel, N.D. She has been incredibly generous with her time and knowledge and kind enough to allow me to intern under her and get first hand experience working with clients to overcome their health issues. Dr. Inge's wide range of experience has allowed me to observe many different types of alternative therapies. I cannot thank her enough for what she has done for me and what she has taught me.
So how I am doing? I am very well, thank you. Within a year of taking control of my health, the test that indicated I had Lupus, the ANA titer, was completely normal. My cholesterol has dropped 70 points, and while it has been gradual, I have lost more than thirty pounds. I've learned how to balance my moods and have had infinitely more success with natural products than I ever did with pharmaceutical anti-depressants and thyroid supplements.
